A formidable foe is coming to the U.S. Rallycross Series #2 on Saturday, July 21st at the New Jersey Motorsports Park.

2WD Global RallyCross class winner, Mikael Eriksson from Jakobsberg, Sweden, is returning stateside in his 2002 Porsche 996 after dominating his class the year before. He now sets his sights on the two-wheel drive competition at NJMP.

"It feels great to get a chance to come to NJMP and compete in the upcoming rallycross events,” said Eriksson, “I've been looking forward to this race for a long time and will do everything to give the audience a good race. There are many good drivers in the race but with a little luck we should have a chance at a podium position."

Eriksson runs a 40 employee contractors company in Sweden and enjoys other sports, such as floorball, table tennis and long-distance running. He began his race career in 2004 first running Volvos. In 2009 he competed in rallycrosses in Norway and Belgium in a BMW M3. He switched to a Porsche GT3 in 2010 and successfully competed in the U.S. the following year.

Mikael Eriksson has participated in approximately 60 races since 2004 around Europe. He has won 10 events over his career and landing on the podium in just as many.

Eriksson was slated to compete in the first U.S. Rallycross Series round in May, but delayed overseas car shipping caused him to miss the event. He is now ready to run the second round to extend his unbeaten streak in the U.S.
