Chelsmford, MA: Team RallyErika of Erika Detota and Mary Warren will compete this week at the 25th anniversary of New England Forest Rally (NEFR). The surprising field of almost 70 teams has some big names among them this year including David Higgins, Ken Block, Travis Pastrana, Ramana Lagemann, Brendan Reeves and Gustavo Yacaman. Competition will be at its highest in years at this running, with several open class teams shooting for the top spot.

Headquartered in Newry, Maine at Sunday River Resort, the two day event will take place July 17-18. Known as “unpredictable”, the gravel roads feature 120 challenging competitive stage miles among Maine and New Hampshire, which include a return to some smooth and twisty stages run in the past. Erika's first attempt at NEFR was the first gravel event she completed in her two wheel drive Subaru Impreza, then with coach Jason Smith navigating. “It has been a long time since I have been on these roads and will be a first for Mary, so our plan is to stay clean and hope to put in good times.”

The team's Subaru Impreza received some improvements during the break between events, which should help the girls confidence. “ We are fortunate to work with great supporters that have been with me for a while, like Exedy and Rally Armor, and also work with me to help our car better on the stages like Whiteline and DBA USA," comments Detota. "After a couple of tarmac events last season, we are looking forward to testing our upgrades on gravel."

Erika and Mary are not the only all female team at the rally this year. TAG Rallysport with Tracey Gardiner and Tracy Manspeaker as well as Lucy Block and Krista Skucas will step up the women's competition, in addition to 9 other female codrivers. “It’s not often there are so many all female teams for us to compete with” says Warren, “As a co-driver, it is really exciting to see so many top teams with women in the navi' seat.” Travis Pastrana with Christine Beavis and Ramana Lagemann with Nathalie Richard will battle for the outright win in Open class cars, while Nick Roberts and Rhianon Gelsomino lead the Super Production Class Championship charge all with female co-drivers.

NEFR is Detota’s home event that presents a contrast to the rest of the team’s plan for the season. Erika and Mary will continue their season at the Rally of the Tall Pines north of the border, where they will be competing for the Canada-USA Eastern Rally Championship. Tall Pines will take place over the American Thanksgiving holiday and is often a snow rally in Bancroft, Ontario.
