Driver // Doug Heredos
He got interested in the sport after watching SPEED TV’s WRC marathon shows in 2000. ” I cound not believe what I was seeing - it seemed like a dream.”
Most fun moment in rally was 2004 Wild West rally- went off the road early on a 27 mile stage and got high centered. 4-5 cars passed before someone pulled us out. Drove angry for 20+ miles and passed three cars before catching one near the end - who kicked up rocks breaking our headlights, windshield, and wipers. Thats what we get for tailgating. In car audio confirmed long continuous laughter after this.
Scariest moment in rally is 2010 Oregon Trail- A small tree fell near the apex of a left hand turn. I was co-driving- Driver (Dan Brown) had two choices- hit the tree and almost certainly roll the car, or pitch the car into the outside ditch. We came within inches of hitting a HUGE tree. Car pitched back onto the course after hitting some stumps or rocks. Lots of minor damage to right side of car (like missing mirror and broken wing, bent skidplate. But it was the closest Ive been to a BIG wreck so far.
How did you get started in Rally or Rallycross?
I worked on a Baja team that fielded a Class 10 buggy at the Laughlin Desert Challenge in 1999.
What are your future goals?
A regional victory..
