Driver // Lauchlin O’Sullivan
Lauchlin O’Sullivan has been a rally driver for more than 10 years. In 2002 and 2003 he was a professional driver for Team Mitsubishi Motor Sports America and the top American driver in the Rally-America Championship. O’Sullivan has finished 30 out of the last 33 events entered, showing beyond his quickness, he has a finishing record to fight for the Overall Championship.
O’Sullivan’s first rally experience was co-driving for his father when he was only 14. Today, his achievements include winning not only events, but several championships as well, going back to his start in 1999. That year he took first overall at the Doo Wop Rally and first overall in the California Rally Series.
Two years later, he took home the trophy in the Production GT class in the Sports Car Club of America’s Southern Pacific Division as well as the local California Rally Series. In 2002, he won the SCCA’s Group 2 Driver’s Champion and the prestigious Woodner Cup. He finished second in the SCCA’s Driver Championship, the Woolf Cup, in 2003 as well as winning the SCCA ProRally Manufacturer Championship for Mitsubishi. In 2004 he earned three podiums in all three SCCA ProRally events entered—in rental cars.
With good luck renting rides, he moved into the ESPN X Games in 2006, the first non-factory car to finish, ending in fourth overall at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In 2012, O’Sullivan won gold as the Rally America Super Production class champion. He has developed a strong reputation as a consistent finisher and a top level threat for a podium spot in any car he drives.
